International Week of the Deaf: Triple Action Project (TAP)

To mark International Day of Sign Language, International Week of the Deaf and International Literacy Day, we collaborated with Save the Deaf and Endangered Language Initiative (S-DELI) for the Triple Action Project (TAP). A Public Lecture was held at the Ministry of Women Affairs on the necessity of making indigenous sign language accessible to all from a young age.

A two-day skill acquisition program was subsequently held for the deaf students of Government Secondary School, Kuje, Abuja. Our guest speaker was Naomi Osemedua; a Mindset Coach and TED-X Providence alumnus who encouraged the students to be aspiring leaders and dream beyond borders.

With over 40 students in attendance, they learnt skills in soap and bead making. Participants were also gifted a customized starter kit to encourage practice long after the workshops were completed. Students also went home with custom journals to enable them write their dreams and document their journey through life.

In addition, students received necessary Math and English textbooks to support their learning.
